About Me

My photo

Hey there, I'm Sunny Shell, a wretch saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Lord. I'm married to the most incredible man on earth, who loves Jesus more than he loves me, and we have two precious adult sons.

The compassionately endures me through my metabolic disease (since 2004) that enables me to be more prayerful and careful about commitments I make and helps me to make the best use of my short time here on earth.

Psalm 27 - The LORD Will Take Me In

Psalm 27 - The LORD Will Take Me In
"What shall I render to the LORD for all His benefits to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people." ~ Psalm 116:12-14 And so I shall. I shall lift up the cup of salvation and I will exalt the Name of Jesus Christ as I share how He chose me for Himself and with His great compassion, amazing grace and endless mercy, saved my depraved, wretched soul from the bondage of sin, Satan and eternal torment in the Lake of Fire - Hell. I pray as I share this, that you will be encouraged and inspired to draw deeper into the wellspring of Life, who is the LORD God Almighty, through His Son, our Savior, Jesus the Christ. I also pray that your heart will be more stirred by God's salvation of my soul, His protection and every demonstration of His undeserved, loving-kindness lavished on me, more than you are moved by the pain and persecution I have been blessed to endure. I want you to

Pray For Our Children

Something just happened today that has burdened my heart to pray for all our children! A sister in Christ, who is a single mother, lives in my neighborhood and my heart truly hurts for her right now. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for her to raise her children in the Way they should go....alone. I know she's not alone, and that our Lord is always with her, but I do know that God allows challenges in the lives of single parents (different challenges), just as our gracious and good Father allows challenges and trials to take place in families with both parents in the home. She is going through a very difficult thing, expressing "tough love" with one of her boys and truly, my heart hurts for her. I completely agree with her and support her, but I still can't help but want to just hold her for a bit and let her cry......or something. She's such a tough lady, and I imagine you'd have to be, as a single parent, but I know that she's hurting and

Live Well - Straining Towards the Goal

Live Well - Straining Towards the Goal

I'm taking things a bit slower today and just really rethinking who I am and what matters most. As I was pondering this, I went to go visit my sweet sister, Darlene @ Live Well Wednesdays and was very encouraged! We hit a huge milestone today in our family...our oldest son, Michael just got his driver's permit! We're so excited for him! And we're so proud of the young man of God he's becoming....as so is our youngest son, Kevin! We're blessed beyond measure and we're so grateful to our gracious, merciful and kind Father God for granting us so much joy on this side of Heaven! I'm grateful for every stage of life and choose not to linger in the past, but look expectantly and joyfully to the future: "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." ~ Isaiah 43:18-19 Today also ma

WFW - Uniquely Blessed Brothers

I've recently been thanking God constantly for the special relationship He has granted my boys. They've been best friends since the day our youngest was born and they're convinced they will be until the day they die. We believe them! The middle picture is our youngest son's first day of Kindergarten and our oldest son's first day of 2 nd grade. Big brother was so proud to have his little brother finally attending school with him. And little brother was just as proud and excited to be going to the same school as his really cool, big brother! This picture was taken eight years ago and their not so little anymore. The two pictures on the side were taken from our trip to CO a couple of summers ago. We'd have more recent photos, but I'm just not really quick with the camera and very rarely remember to bring one anywhere I go. Our wonderful sons are now 13 1/2 and almost 16 years old. My how time flies when we're having fun....and we sure are! We rejo

Grow Deeper in Christ - Don't Miss This!

I strongly encourage everyone to go to this conference and forward this information on to anyone you love or almost love! This is going to be an amazing conference where you will be totally saturated with the Word of God! Truly, for a Child of God, one of the most exciting things is to totally immerse yourself in His word with total adoration and praise! This conference will quench your thirst, satisfy your hunger and draw you deeper and closer into a more intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ! And hey, don't forget to bring the kids! Especially if you have teen or tween-agers! This will be such an encouragement for them to stand strong in Christ in this twisted and crooked generation they live in. Below are the topics and speakers...WOW, what a list! Cafe Chat - Love as Christ Has Loved Us

Cafe Chat - Love as Christ Has Loved Us

Once again, Kim has inspired us to dig deeper into God's Word to shine His Light into our souls to reveal what is truly in us. "Whatever you do, work heartily , as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ ." ~ Colossians 3:23-24 (emphasis added) Today at Cafe Chat , Kim applies a very poignant question to us in accordance with Colossians 3:23-24 which commands us to "work heartily" in all things remembering it is Christ Jesus we are serving, not men. Below is the question she asked us to meditate on and consider: How would your life look differently if you embraced and believed fully what the verse in Colossians states? If the truth above is something you already believe and actively live out, how does this truth make a difference in your life? For me personally, I truly believe this passage of Scripture, but I don't always succeed in remembering it

A Failed Abortion - A Survivor's Story

A Failed Abortion - A Survivor's Story

Two years ago my darling husband was serving our Lord and our country in Iraq. It was a challenging time and a very wonderful time we all spent drawing nearer and nearer to our gracious God and Father, through our Savior Jesus Christ. Shortly after my wonderful husband left for Iraq, our oldest son (who was 14 at the time) was asked to lead the prayer at Free Market Foundations annual fundraiser luncheon . The attorneys at Free Market Foundation represented our oldest son in his case against our public school district who attempted to dismantle S.W.A.T. Bible Club at our son's middle school. God won. The religious persecution our family endured and the success of this case (along with many others like it) was taken to our Governor who signed a law giving rights to all public school children to freely practice their faith in school. I attended the luncheon with both my precious boys and while we were there, we met this bright and beautiful child of God, Gianna Jessen who had sur

STOP, DROP & PRAY!

STOP, DROP & PRAY!

Hello my faithful sisters! I would like to request prayers on behalf of all those who are in the path of Hurricane Ike. There are many in the Texas area, especially those near the Gulf that will suffer great loss...and prayerfully, that will not include lives. Please also pray for me, my family and those around us as we are told that Ike will be a tropical storm by the time it reaches our area, with winds up to 35 mph to 45 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. There is also a possibility that we will experience isolated tornadoes and much inland flooding. I'm off to put water in large coolers, plastic bins, etc. (so we can still go potty, in case of a power outage) and other emergency preparedness gear. Thank you in advance for your prayers. I will be sure to update you as soon as possible. May the LORD our God richly bless you for your faithful prayers! By the way, Twinkies and Ho-Ho's are a necessary part of an Emergency Preparedness Kit, right? running to my Strong Tower,

9/11 - Moving On, But Without Forgetting

9/11 - Moving On, But Without Forgetting

It has been 7 years since our country was attacked by terrorists. It has been 7 years since the family members of those who worked in the Twin Towers have seen their relatives, friends and co-workers. It's been 7 years since most of us have thought about how very fragile and precious life is. It has been seven years since "ordinary" men and women, risked their lives to save others they did not know. And it has been 7 years since many have remembered to keep those families in our prayers. We said we'd never forget, but somehow, we have. It has been 2,000 years since God came to earth, suffered and died for the souls of all who were once enemies of God. Who were and are the enemies of God? The entire human race. For we all have sinned and fall short of the glory (perfection) of God. We broke God's Law, but Christ paid the penalty for our crime, and He set us free. Free to do whatever we want? No, free to no longer live in a hostile relationship towards God. Free t

Live Well Wednesdays - Being Transformed

Live Well Wednesdays - Being Transformed

Today at "Live Well" Darlene encouraged us with the topic of: "Associative Learning" . The first Scripture that comes to mind when I think of that is: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." ~ Romans 12:2 One of the things I try to do is use Scripture to "spur" me "on toward love and good works." ( Hebrews 10:24 ) Which includes taking good care of my body, which truly is NOT my own ( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ), it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. When I remember these verses, I'm not so tempted to fall back into old habits of eating: Getting a "snack" after the kids go to bed Giving myself a "treat" after I feel I've had a hard day Using food to make me feel better when I'm upset with someone or about something Eating, not because I'm hungry, but just bec

WFW - Jesus Calls Whom He Desires

"Here was sovereignty. Impatient spirits may fret and fume, because they are not called to the highest places in the ministry; but reader be it thine to rejoice that Jesus calleth whom He wills. If He shall leave me to be a doorkeeper in His house, I will cheerfully bless Him for His grace in permitting me to do anything in His service. The call of Christ's servants comes from above. Jesus stands on the mountain, evermore above the world in holiness, earnestness, love and power. Those whom He calls must go up the mountain to Him, they must seek to rise to His level by living in constant communion with Him . They may not be able to mount to classic honours, or attain scholastic eminence, but they must like Moses go up into the mount of God and have familiar intercourse with the unseen God, or they will never be fitted to proclaim the Gospel of peace. Jesus went apart to hold high fellowship with the Father, and we must enter into the same divine companionship if we would b

A Donor For Laurie!

A Donor For Laurie!

Hello precious sisters! A little over a month ago, I asked you for your fervent prayers and sacrificial giving to participate in the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) in honor of my dear friend and sister in Christ, Laurie . First, I'd like to thank all of you for your prayers and also for registering as a bone marrow donor with the NMDP . Second, I'd like to share some FABULOUS news with you! I just found out several days ago that a sweet, precious 19 year old young lady is a near perfect match for my darling Laurie! We don't know when all of this will happen yet, but we are so grateful and so in awe of God's provision! Here's the email she sent out: My transplant doctor called this morning to tell me.... THEY FOUND A DONOR FOR ME!!!!!!! It is CONFIRMED!!!!! I will be going to meet with my oncologist on Sept. 11th to be first phlebotomized (draining of my blood because of the Polycythemia).... but we will be discussing the other more importa

There are many four letters words that can change the meaning or things. Like when you've watched a wonderful movie and then...suddenly, there it is...that four letter word that just messed it all up! And you think, "Now why did they do that?! It was a GREAT movie and they had to go and put that in there! That word didn't make the movie better! It made it bad! What a way to ruin a good movie!" I hate when that happens. And to think, it was over a very small four letter word. We often seem to look over the little things like that in our lives, don't we? I know I do! I'm always waiting for and looking for God to "give me a sign". I'm always looking for the parting of the Red Sea in a difficult situation or the pillar of cloud by day to follow and a pillar of fire by night to comfort and protect me in my fears. "And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test Him they asked Him to show them a sign from Heaven. He answered them, "When

WFW - Treasure in Jars of Clay

WFW - Treasure in Jars of Clay

The first thing I thought when I saw this picture was, "Wow, although all the jars are beautiful and uniquely made, the jars that have the light within them really stand out!" Then I thought about us, God's children. Are we like these jars...the one's that have the light within them that make them stand out? Do we live such abandoned lives to Christ that truly His light shines through that it causes the world to think, "Hmmm...they look just like me. But there's just something about them. Something I can't put my finger on. They just kind of...well, glow!" This is how I want to be. I want to live with such devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that while on the outside I may have similar features as another person, wonderfully and uniquely made - that the light of Christ so shines through me, others can see Him....just as easily as we can see the light through these jars! Please head on over to the 160 Acre Woods for more encouragement f

Live Well - Burning Calories While....

Today at "Live Well Wednesdays" our precious sister Darlene continues to bless us with fabulous, fun and creative ways to lose weight by honoring God first in our lives! I just LOVE that about her! Please be sure to visit her today to read her post as well as others who are participating in "Live Well Wednesdays". Like Darlene, I LOVE to garden! And it is definitely a wonderful way to have some sweet, sweet quiet time with the Lord, as it seems I can hear Him better when I'm in the midst of His beautiful plants and flowers! But as she stated, winters-a-comin' so we gardeners have gotta get goin' out of our gardens and IN some where else to stay fit. Darlene has a fun and creative way to do that....but you'll have to go visit her post to find out what it is! *wink* *wink* For me, well, it may not sound too exciting, but necessary....can I get a drum roll please? It's, it's.......HOUSEWORK!!!! Yes, what you've all been waiting to hea
