Interview: Jimmy Needham's latest album 'The Hymns Sessions V1'

Yesterday I had the blessing of interviewing Jimmy Needham : a young, 28-year old Christian, husband, father and someone who just happens to be a singer/songwriter. I say "just happens" because unlike most, the obvious career the Lord chose for Jimmy, is not the one he foresaw for himself. Jimmy is a graduate of Texas A & M. His plans were to remain at his alma mater and teach Philosophy. But God inspired the heart of Jimmy's loving and supportive father to encourage him with an offer to fund Jimmy's first album, originally titled, "For Freedom"  in 2005. Three months after Jimmy posted songs from this album on MySpace, he received a call from the President of InPop Records who flew to Houston, Texas to meet Jimmy. InPop signed Jimmy with their label and publicly released his debut album, "For Freedom" under the new title,  "Speak"  in 2006. It was after these two events, Jimmy realized, "this doesn't happe...

My Second Love: Biblical Submission & The Proverbs 31 Woman

My Second Love  was written out of my love for God and for all my sisters in Christ whom the Lord has inspired to travel the road of biblical submission, so together we may raise our voices as one (Ex 24:3, Rom 15:6); giving praise, glory and honor only to Jesus our Supreme and First Love; enabling us to biblically honor our husbands as our Second Love. You can access these lessons by viewing the "Table of Contents" from the navigation menu on the left sidebar of the study's website at: www.mysecondlove.net . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Biblical submission is: A beautiful gift for your husband and a precious offering to God. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splen...

Q90 FM - second radio interview tomorrow 03/27

Faithful and beloved saints of Christ Jesus, I need your prayer support again. Earlier today, I was contacted by a precious sister in the Lord, Amy Spreeman who co-hosts  "Stand Up For the Truth" , (with Mike LeMay ), on  Q90 FM ,  in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Amy requested an interview with me that will air live, tomorrow (March 27, 2013) from 9:00-10:00 a.m. My segment will go from 9:00-9:20 a.m. You can either listen live by clicking this link: Stand Up For the Truth , or listen later by clicking this link: archived podcasts . Okay, it's confession time. Most of you may not know this, but I'm an ardent introvert. I like  love being alone and I love the quiet. Being with a group of more than one other person makes me nervous...sometimes even one other person makes me nervous, depending on who they are. Most of my life, I've loved silence and precious times of meditating on God's word. And none of this is because I'm such a wonderfully strong...

Please pray and listen for tonight's interview on KKLA

I will be interviewed tonight (March 25, 2013) on KKLA, 99.5 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. PST by Frank Sontag, a guest-host for the former Frank Pastore show  "The Intersection of Faith and Reason"  in Los Angeles, California. The interview will begin with my review on the heretical "The Bible" mini-series, but will mainly focus on God's goodness, His sovereignty and grace to all creation, and especially to the elect. I'd be so grateful for your  fervent prayers for tonight's interview. Please pray for me and our brother Frank: that God would protect our interview; give us both hearts and ears that are sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading; and that God will prepare the hearts of all the listeners so they may hear His truth, have their faith strengthened and exhorted to live abandoned to Christ with every breath they have. You can listen to the interview live by clicking this link: The Intersection of Faith and Reason  or you can go to the...

Creating a pop-up music player for your site

As many of you have noticed, I've totally revamped the site and renamed it to: Abandoned to Christ (which has been my signature for years, so it just made sense). I enjoy sharing content that the Lord leads for me, whether they be articles, Scripture pictures, photographs or anything else God gives me so I can create an atmosphere that rightly reveals the kindness, mercy, grace and peace of God that all His children should exhibit, whether in person or online. I revamped my blog to a more simplistic, beautiful, user-friendly and easily navigable site. While you're here, I want you to enjoy your visit with some lovely music that will establish the same peace I try to maintain in my home. The only problem I've found with music players is that every time you refresh the screen by moving from one article to another, the music player refreshes as well. So my youngest son, Kevin (Senior in high school) suggested I make my music player a pop-up so it wo...

Genius: A new MUST SEE movie by Living Waters

Hello friends, Guess what? Ray Comfort and the Living Waters staff have created another inspiring movie that will cause you to examine your hearts (2 Cor 13:5), and exhort you to be holy as the Lord our God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). "Genius" gives insight into the life of John Lennon, and according to Ken Mansfield (the ex-U.S. Apple manager for the Beatles) "[It] will open your eyes." Reviewers of the pre-release are giving it two thumbs up. Best-selling author, Randy Alcorn, said it is "Fast-paced, thought-provoking and compelling." World Net Daily's Joseph Farah responded with, "You have outdone yourself!" while Ted Baehr of Movieguide called it "An entertaining and challenging insight…watch and wonder." Ray Comfort said he was amazed to discover that the Beatles aren't simply a rock group from a by-gone era, but that they are appealing to a new generation. "They have sold more than 2,303,500,000 r...

Mary Kassian  is an award winning author, internationally renowned speaker and a distinguished professor at Southern Baptist Seminary. She’s the author of multiple books including  Girls Gone Wise ,  and   co-author (with  Nancy Leigh DeMoss ) of  True Woman 101: Divine Design  and one of the speakers at the  True Woman Conference 2012  that will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., on September 20-22. (Look for the giveaway at the end of this article). “An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels...She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy...She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue...Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” ~Proverbs 31:10, 20, 26, 30 A woman who knows she was made to be a strong yet delicate, beautiful creation of God, is indeed an extreme rarity. Her value and contributio...

My article published at (in)courage today!

Hello beloved friends! Just a quick note to let you know that my article My heart, Christ's garden has been published at DaySpring's women's devotional site, (in)courage. Here's an excerpt: “The genuine Christian must seek to be more excellent in his life than the best moralist, because Christ’s garden ought to produce the best flowers in the world.” ~ Charles Haddon Spurgeon I want my heart to be this way. I want my heart to produce the most beautiful and luscious flowers! I want my life to flow with the love of God and the magnificence of His grace and mercy! I want my life to shout, “I am holy, set apart; unto the LORD!” I want my heart to hold a reservation only for One, my Lord Jesus. I want to be singularly focused and eternally inclined. I want to be like the flowers in my garden. I want to only face the Son. I want to stretch my faith and strain my efforts to have a leaning only towards the One who gave His life for mine.... To read the entire ar...

New look; same mission

Well, my precious and lovely sister-friend Edie Moore has done it again! With much prayer and intense listening to God's guidance, she designed this beautiful new template for my blog and I am so grateful to God for her! I've been wanting my blog to display the exquisiteness of Christ with the uniqueness of His calling to me for quite some time now. But I couldn't seem to find any already-mades that fit me and who God made me to be. I'm not the typical woman. I'm a tomboy who also loves the softness, flowers and all the essence of femininity that makes me one of God's little girls. And through Edie, God gave me this beautiful template that displays the simplicity and practical thinking of a boy, mixed with the gentleness and flowing grace of a girl. When people come to visit my blog, I want them to sense the love, elegance, peace, gentleness and humility of Christ. My desire is that each of you experience more of Christ and less of me as you are refreshed by ...
