It Matters Not

It matters not If I say "I believe in Jesus" Yet I bray It matters not If I attend Every church service Yet ,God I offend It matters not If I profess Christ as Savior Without holiness It matters not If I give to the poor And share what I have Yet live as I'm lord It matters not If I say I repent Yet live my life To my heart's content It matters not My standing in church If the desire of my heart Is to lurch It matters not What I proclaim If honoring Christ Is not my aim It matters not If others speak well For only Christ Can post bail If I'm not grateful And humbled by God My feign profession Matters not.

Drawing Near: A poem of worship, prayer and praise

I used to write poems all the time. It's something the Lord gave me to do while He endured me through some of the darkest and most violent times in my life. While there were many external forces working against me, God's word and the hope in Christ sustained me through the tempest. The Lord graciously drew me to seek His face, worship Him in love and truth, and brought me His incomprehensible peace. The love of God, always quieted my heart (Zeph 3:17) and lifted my soul to remember what is greater than all that is in this world...the Lord Jesus Christ and the richness of the gift of God in Jesus. Today, during my praise and quiet time, I read Ephesians 1:3-19 with vv. 17-19 inspiring me to write this poem that is my prayer for me, and all the saints who are in Christ. May we who have been chosen by the Most High God as His dearly and beloved children, resolve to live abandoned to Christ (Gal 2:20); for His glory, His praise and exaltation alone—for He alon...

That Thing Called Sin - From the Heart of a Teen

It continues to amaze me at how our awesome God works in our children's hearts....especially teenagers! :-) The Bible says as the world gets older and the longer we're all here, the more sinful the world will become. I don't think there is anyone, believers or non-believers that wouldn't agree with that statement. We can all clearly see how wickedness has increased, in the form of incessant lying, lack of personal responsibility or repentance, self-absorption, self-glorification, sexual immorality, abortion, and so much more than I think I can list. In the midst of all this, as much as we'd LOVE to homeschool our boys or send them to a private Christian school, we cannot, since God has clearly told us to send our boys to public school. As parents, this is very difficult as I'm sure we all want our children to be in a warm, loving and Christ-exalting environment. But God is God and we are not and we fully trust His direction in our lives, regardless of what w...

Falling For Jesus - Captivated!

Ahhh….falling in love with Jesus, how can I count the ways? I cannot. For Who the Lord Jesus is, and all that He has done for me; there is no number, and no way to measure the splendor of His majesty. Therefore, how can a person ever choose one moment, one time, one instance, over any other: to recall and share His greatness, His kindness, His faithfulness? I believe this is difficult for any of us. As even the Apostle John felt the same way, for he chose to close his gospel letter with this profound and true statement: “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.” ~ John 21:25 (ESV) The memory I have chosen to share with you, is not one of extraordinary circumstance. Instead, I wanted to share one occasion that best depicts the epitome of my daily life, with my exceptional Savior, Jesus, the Christ. Several years ago, as I was driving home one morn...

What Makes a Difference?

Last year Michael's teacher gave his class a writing assignment. His teacher instructed each student to write a short story, poem, or prose on: What Makes a Difference? Below is the prose Michael wrote when he was only 14 years old and in the 8th. grade. Isn't it wonderful what God does with children who love Him? May your day be blessed, as you remember Who it is that makes all the difference...our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Christ, we have no life, no hope, no salvation - nothing good. What makes a difference? To help someone in need; To be friendly to someone who is unfriendly and love someone who seems unlovable; To share with a greedy person and endure the ridicule from others; To be thankful for an unpopular gift; To look at the positive side in others; To have eternal perspective, in good or bad times, a sharing heart or a grateful soul for His Gift; to realize how much you've been given because of Love; Jesus Christ makes a difference!
