(As you can see, I was so excited about announcing the winner of this giveaway, I got a bit carried away and recruited my sons and husband [who took the video]....oh well, it's good for them! If they had any pride before this video, I obviously was a HUGE help in ridding them of it! Aren't I such a thoughtful mom? LOL!)

Please visit our sister Raye Ann, read her entry and offer her your warmest, cheeriest congratulations!

Raye Ann @ Heart of the Home

CONGRATULATIONS sister Raye Ann!

I've been praying about this contest as well as the winner. I've already prayed for God to bless you and use your heart to testify His love to the lost, so that they too, may know the rich treasure that is found in Christ Jesus alone - salvation from the bondage of sin and the penalty of death in the eternal Lake of Fire.

May you be richly blessed as you faithfully administer the word of God entrusted to you! And may the LORD our God give you all spiritual wisdom and understanding to know His will as you read through the materials and diligently use this giveaway to share the Good News of God's greatest giveaway....the life of His Son, the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ the Lord! :-)
Just a quick reminder that Thursday, November 20th. is the absolute last day for the "Keeping Christ in Christmas" giveaway. Click the button below for the details on how to enter.

Bless you all! :-)

If you REALLY want to be blessed, read all the comments and visit those who have entered and posted testimonies of how Christ saved them, how grateful they are for their salvation, and what they plan to do with the prize!
"He who has prepared for us this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So that we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."
~ 2 Corinthians 5:5-10

Therefore let us all live as if it were everyone's last day and redeem the time we have left here on earth. Let us compassionately do the work of an evangelist and preach the Gospel of Christ to the utter ends of the earth, while it is still Day.

I've always heard, “Live every day as if it were your last.” On the surface, this statement sounds thoughtful, but looking deeper, its foundation is self-centered. Therefore, I'd like to propose another statement that I feel is more in line with God's word:

Live each day as if it were everyone else's last day.

If today was your husband's, you wife's, your children's, your mother's, father's, aunt's, uncle's, or best friend's last day, what would you do differently? What things would be important to you...enough to fight and argue about? What would you say to them and what would you do for them?

I guess before any of us can answer that question, we'd first have to consider, is this person saved? If they are, then I'm sure most of us would quickly humble ourselves and lavish them with the awesome love of Christ as He commanded us to do as His Church. We would quickly throw away any differences, any malice any discourse that might have separated us, and we would sow peace – as much as it is up to us.

“Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.”
~ 2 Corinthians 13:11-12

“Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”
~ Romans 12:17-18

And if they are not saved, I hope that all of us would spend what time we had left with them, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Not the watered-down version, but the true Gospel - the way Jesus showed us:

"No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
~ Luke 13:3

Does everyone who claims to know God, to know Jesus, His Son, enter into Heaven? Will everyone who claims they believe there is a God be accepted by God? Let’s see what Jesus said here in the gospel of Matthew.

" 'Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and do many mighty works in Your name?' And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.' "
~ Matthew 7:21-23
(emphasis added)

In this passage, the word our Lord Jesus uses for “knew” is the Greek word, ginosko which means: to grasp, to test, to recognize intimately; Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. As you can see for yourselves, the word our Master and Savior Jesus Christ used for "knew" was not a casual word saying that He was never aware of your existence - He made you, He is God, He is omniscient and has knowledge of all things. Instead, Jesus uses a word, also used to describe sexual intimacy, which we know is often used in the Old Testament in the same manner: Adam knew Eve and she conceived.

Jesus says that if He is not intimately acquainted with; more specifically, made one with a person (He has never known them), then it doesn't matter what they might claim, whether it be "good" works or prayers in "Jesus' name". If we pray or do anything and simply tack on "in Jesus' name" thinking somehow this will magically make us known to Christ, we have deceived ourselves. To pray or do anything in the Name of Jesus means to do it in His character, in His nature: holy, pure, humbly and with agape love. And no mere human can do anything in Jesus Name, without the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit.

The Bible is clear, the only people who can be saved are the ones who confess that they are sinners (because they have broken God’s holy Law [1 John 3:4]); believe they deserve eternal damnation in Hell because of their sins; understand that their sins are an abomination to a holy God and that Christ Jesus is the Son of God: who was born of a virgin, and alone was without sin - perfectly fulfilling the Law; took our shame, our guilt, our condemnation upon Himself when He bore our sins on the Cross; was raised on the Third Day by the power of the Holy Spirit to prove that He alone is God and has the power to defeat sin and it's penalty which is eternal death in the lake of fire.

Is there someone you need to share this with today? Is there someone(s) God is bringing to your mind to prayerfully, humbly and compassionately, with the power from Christ, share the Gospel, so that they might be saved?

Jesus said:

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but however does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God.”
~ John 3:17-21

I am in tears and broken-hearted for those I know who either think they are “good” enough to go to Heaven, or they are religious enough to go to Heaven. Both groups of people, have not yet repented and feel no need to repent because they think, “It’ll be okay. It’ll all work out in the end. When I die, God will understand.” Yes, He will. He will understand that they have rejected Him as their God and His Son, Jesus as their only Savior. And He will judge them by what they have judged themselves – on their own merit; and they will terrified to find out, their “good deeds” in the sight of God were only filthy rags, and have disqualified them for the inheritance with all the saints in light.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith.”
~ Romans 3:23-25a

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
~ Ephesians 2:8-9
(emphasis added)

How about you? Will you choose to live this day and every day, from now on, as if it were your loved ones’ last day?

Lord God in Heaven, hallowed by Your holy Name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Purify us Lord, with Your word. Cleanse us of whatever we are holding on to that makes us comfortable, yet grieves Your Spirit that lives within us. Let us cast all our differences with one another aside as we strive to love You first, with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Oh gracious Father God, forgive us for looking too long in our mirrors that only reflect our flesh and not Your glory. May our love for You be demonstrated not with mere words and tongue, but in actions and in truth. May Christ Jesus our Lord be glorified because of our love for one another.

This is a picture of our youngest son, joyfully looking forward to his first Christmas! He was eight months old when this picture was taken. Time has flown, and he will be fourteen years old, in just five more months.

We've been witnessing to our sons and teaching them the ways of God, pretty much since they were conceived. We'd pray for them, read Scripture to them and tell them how much God loves them. I don't believe it's ever too early to teach our children about God, His saving grace and His merciful love, fully demonstrated in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus said in Matthew 18:2-4

"And calling to Him a child, He put him in the midst of them and said,
'Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.' "

So often we all want to feel like we matter, like we have purpose and like we're special. Although on the surface, there seems to me nothing wrong with this thinking, when we dig deep into God's word, His brilliant light of truth, love and righteousness reveals to us the error in this logic.

When we allow the tiniest seed of self-importance rise up within us, it will only be a matter of time before it becomes a full-fledged tree, bearing much fruit - the fruit of selfish ambition. The poor man who has decided he is nothing and has nothing, fears not what he might lose before setting out for the day. It is the rich man who deems he has a reputation to keep, earthly possessions to care for and is constantly tormented by thoughts that someone might steal all that he has.

Our emotions, our families, our acquaintances, co-workers and even Satan himself, cannot take anything away from the one who claims nothing for himself, except the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of his/her soul. And who can take Christ and His Holy Spirit away from anyone who has repented and trusted Jesus to save them? No one can.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one."
~ John 10:27-30

Little children don't have much selfish ambition. They just want simple things:

  1. love;
  2. peace;
  3. laughter;
  4. family;
  5. hugs and kisses;
  6. food, something to drink, and sleep;
  7. giving something to those they love, just to make them smile.

I'm going to be a little child today. A child of the Most High God. And I'm going to seek only to love, sow peace, enjoy laughter, enjoy my family, give lots of hugs and kisses, thank God for food that is nutritious and taste good, rest and hopefully by the end of this day, I will give something to someone I love, just to make them smile....I think I'll start by giving my Father in Heaven, my undivided heart and abandoned love. I sure hope this makes Him smile!

Won't you join me today at Word-Filled Wednesdays? Let's make God smile together...through worship!

Word Filled Wednesdays
It continues to amaze me at how our awesome God works in our children's hearts....especially teenagers! :-)

The Bible says as the world gets older and the longer we're all here, the more sinful the world will become. I don't think there is anyone, believers or non-believers that wouldn't agree with that statement. We can all clearly see how wickedness has increased, in the form of incessant lying, lack of personal responsibility or repentance, self-absorption, self-glorification, sexual immorality, abortion, and so much more than I think I can list.

In the midst of all this, as much as we'd LOVE to homeschool our boys or send them to a private Christian school, we cannot, since God has clearly told us to send our boys to public school. As parents, this is very difficult as I'm sure we all want our children to be in a warm, loving and Christ-exalting environment. But God is God and we are not and we fully trust His direction in our lives, regardless of what we'd prefer and how much our heart breaks over things our sons' share with us as they pour out their hearts to us from each days struggles.

My husband and I both attended public school as well, and found it very difficult for a Christian to be in that kind of environment with constant, and blatant temptation, rampant all throughout the school. We wanted "better" for our kids and God has chosen what is better; in His sight, which is perfect.

Out of all the things we truly hate that our sons have to endure in a public school environment, this one, bright shining light of hope, keeps us going. The hope that God is using them as His light: to bring comfort to the poor and needy, to preach the Gospel and share the love of Christ; to be a friend to the friendless, and to draw us closer as a family.

You see, because our children attend public school, both my husband and I spend every time we can find to help them drink more deeply into the Well of Life, our Lord Jesus Christ. We've taught them since they were two to have praise and quiet time and seek God's face before seeking anyone or anything else. We have breakfast devotionals every morning and give them Scripture to help them throughout they day by purchasing them pocket-sized Bibles to have at school with them (and we started this when they first attended school at age 5). After school, I don't answer my phone or get on it, in order to give both sons my undivided attention to share all that is on their hearts. We eat dinner together and share our struggles as well as victories in Christ, and if there is time, then we read together so we can all be edified, or we snuggle and watch a movie about other Christians who have struggled with sin, and triumphed in the name of Jesus.

A few days ago my oldest son, Michael, who will be 16 next week, sat down and penned the poem below. I asked if it was alright to share this with all of you and he said that it was glad to share it. One thing we've tried to teach our sons is never to live in the deception that Christians are sinless, but that we do strive to sin less. My son is allowing me to share this with you, in the hope that it will exhort you, your children or anyone you know, to press on....press on toward the goal God has called each of us, Heavenward, in Christ Jesus. No matter the cost, no matter the struggle, we must all desire greatly to mortify all that is within us that sets itself up against our awesome and glorious God.

Personally, I'm very proud of my boys! And I'm thankful for how God has protected, provided and taught them throughout their lives.

I'll be sure to pass along any encouragements the Lord leads you to share with him.

That Thing Called Sin

There’s somethin’ in my life that just keeps naggin’,
It takes shape whenever I start braggin’.
I can’t get rid of it, no matter how hard I try,
It rears its ugly head even when I tell a simple lie.
That thing called sin.

I hate it so much; I just want it to go away,
But that’s not gonna happen, it’s here to stay.
In this life, at least, I will struggle with it,
It will continue to drag me down, into a pit.
That thing called hate.

Why won’t it leave me alone, what’s the point?
I feel like it’s controlling every joint.
Is there a way out? Is there hope?
Or am I left to myself, just to mope?
That thing called depression.

There’s only one thing to do, one resolve,
It’s too big a problem for me to solve.
There is a Man, who can carry this burden,
He loves me so much, even though I hurt Him.
That thing called remorse.

His name is powerful, oh yes, it’s Jesus,
He is the Son of God, sent to save us.
I know what to do now, only this,
Give up my life of mere happiness.
That thing called hope.

Only Christ can do it, He’s the one,
I give up myself, I’m completely done.
With this burden lifted, and this wrong made right.
I can finally receive Eternal Life.
That thing called love.

I am free now, and belong to Christ,
I will stay with Him for the rest of my life.
I’m through with filthy, dirty me,
The stench so strong I could hardly breathe.

Through Jesus Christ alone can I win,
Over this thing…called sin.
I'm praying about some different things I have on my heart and thoughts that have popped into my head to do with this blog. I want so much to encourage all of you as you hunger and thirst after the only One who can truly satisfy you - the Lord Jesus Christ. But before I do anything, I am in much prayer about this and would appreciate your prayers as well.

I want everything I have and everything I do to represent Christ and Christ alone. I want nothing more than for the brilliance of His beauty to emanate through all He has given me. And I want to honor the "mission" He's given me for my life; which is the same mission for this blog.

So while I'm in this time of prayer, I thought it would be good to share a couple of personal journal entries with you, as this is the direction I am sensing the Lord leading me with regards to this blog. I know He wants me to get more personal, but what I don't know yet is how that will look and how it will all play out.

June 3, 2000

To live a day without God,
To live a day without prayer,
Is truly a day not lived at all,
A day that 's meaningless and bare.

To live a day in God's will,
To live a day wrapped in prayer,
Is a day filled with miracles,
A day spent in God's merciful care.

Thank You Father for Your love! Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for teaching all of us, caring for us and disciplining us. I love You Father. I lift up my thoughts and prayers in the holy name of Christ Jesus. Amen.

I wrote the following entry after I read what Jesus said in John 15:10-11. In this passage, Jesus explains to us what His delight; His joy is - to keep the commandments of our Father God. And He shares how His desire is for us to have this same joy, this same delight. I then read Psalm 37:4 to confirm that Jesus' joy came from complete and total obedience to God the Father out of love and not out of duty. Then I came upon Psalm 40:8 which brought the first two passages together, as I continued to search God's word to help me live in the joy, the delight of my Master and Lord, Jesus the Christ.

As I read God's word, I was very disappointed to find out that my delight was not in obedience, but only in receiving blessings. From my broken heart, I wrote the following entry:

October 8, 2000

So Father, when do I "delight" to do Your will? It seems it is only when Your will is easy for me. But when You challenge me, when You grow me, I feel stumped. I lose my footing and become totally unfocused. Why? Why does this happen to me?

Because I do not lean on Your understanding and Your ways, but my own, I become discouraged and confused; frustrated and floundering.

But You Father, my God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, You alone, make my paths straight. Teach me, lead me, make me the woman You have planned for me to be. Let me put off my old ways. Let me not dam up the stream of Your Living Water. Let me have no walls, obstacles or stumbling blocks that might impede the work You have set before me.

I want to "delight" in pleasing You. I want all my joy to be set on You. I want You to be the sole foundation, sole purpose of my being. I want every part of me, to be of You...and You alone.

Praise be to You Father. Oh sweet Abba Father in Heaven! Praise Your holy Name! Thank You for Jesus!

And what about you? Have you every only delighted in God when you were blessed and not when He challenged you to grow in your faith? What is your hearts cry to God right now? How do you want to live each day? And what do you want your days to be filled with?

I pray that somehow, God will use this to bless, encourage, and exhort you to be all that only Christ can form within you.

This is a music video of Casting Crowns' song, While You Were Sleeping. It is only five minutes long. Please take the time to listen, with an open heart and open hands to receive all that God chooses to give you.

"For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open to us.' But he answered, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.' "
~ Matthew 25:3-13
(emphasis added)

May we be led into repentance as we encourage others to do the same. And should our Bridegroom return soon, may He not find any of us "sleeping", but awake and alert; always prepared to do His will1 and offer to Him, our abandoned love.

"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
~ Matthew 26:41

"Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?"
~ Luke 18:8(b)

And what about you dear brothers and sisters? Will you watch for our Lord Jesus Christ with me? Will you commit to pray for yourselves and for others to abide in Christ alone? When He comes, will He find us faithful? I pray that He does.

Footnotes:

1. Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 7:15-16 & 19-20

Regardless of who you voted for, as Christians we have the privilege to honor our Lord God, not only with our lips, but with our abandoned hearts, to pray for our new President God raised up - and allowed to take office.

"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him."
~ Daniel 2:20-22

God's word does not return to Him void, but surely accomplishes the purpose in which He sent it. And we trust in the LORD God Almighty; not in personal comforts, fears, anger, disappointment or the opinions of men.

But in all things, as children of the Most High God, we are confident, no matter our circumstances, for our lives are not held by the decisions of mere men, but only by the good and sovereign will of the Lord of Hosts.

"Arise, O LORD! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before You!
Put them in fear, O LORD!
Let the nations know that they are but men!"
~ Psalm 9:19-20
(emphasis added)

Therefore, we ought to restrain ourselves from slander or any other form of malice regarding our new President, Barak Obama. And we must commit to pray for him. Pray for the salvation and protection of him and his entire family. Pray for God to give him wisdom to lead this great nation. And pray that every believer in Christ, take more seriously and appreciate more deeply the freedoms we have to worship our King Jesus.

Remember dear brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus, why we are here. We are visitors, sojourners; not permanent citizens of this world. We are not here to become so passionate about all that is temporary. But instead, we are to strive for that which is eternal - salvation in Christ Jesus; and sharing our hope in Him with the world.

With this in mind, will you join me in prayer for our new President and not against him?

Hello my beautiful sister in the Lord Jesus Christ!

I wanted to remind everyone to vote your faith today. Vote based on your love and devotion for Christ, our Savior and not based on fear, personal comforts or the opinions of man - from the world, or even from well-meaning brothers and sisters in Christ. Search God's word, and seek His counsel as you would do with anything else in your life. Then rest in peace, trusting that God will never forsake His children.

Please do not neglect your Christian duty to vote. It's better to be an absentee voter than to not vote at all. And please remember to keep everyone in your prayers today....you are all in mine! :-)

Now about absentee visitors. Unfortunately, I am not able to visit with you today, as I am compelled to live what I teach. :-) Therefore, I thought it would be good to refer you to some articles that I've already written in order to encourage you through various trials you may be enduring at the moment.

So today, I will be an "absentee visitor". While I may not be blogging today, my heart and prayers are with you all and in a sense I am still "visiting" with you in the best place possible....in Christ! :-)
