About Me

My photo

Hey there, I'm Sunny Shell, a wretch saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Lord. I'm married to the most incredible man on earth, who loves Jesus more than he loves me, and we have two precious adult sons.

The compassionately endures me through my metabolic disease (since 2004) that enables me to be more prayerful and careful about commitments I make and helps me to make the best use of my short time here on earth.

What is blasphemy and heresy?

What is blasphemy and heresy?
Many of us who "grew up in the church" are familiar with words like  blasphemy and heresy, but aren't sure what they mean,  how God applies them in His word, and how He expects us to apply them in our daily lives as His holy and dearly loved children. "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain." ~ Exodus 20:7 "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction." 2 Peter 2:1 In order to gain what God's usage of blasphemy and heresy are, we'll take a look at how these words (in their various forms) are used in Scripture as well as the original Hebrew and Greek. blasphemy   n.  ~ 1. profane or contemptuous speech, writing, or action concerning God or anything held

The Trinity and Hierarchy

Not only is it a daunting task for anyone to assume to describe the holy Trinity of God, but it is also one that will never be complete by any human efforts; for God alone is God, there is no other and (as we discussed a few days ago), our finite minds will never be able to fully grasp the greatness of an infinite God. "To whom will you liken Me and make Me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike? ~ Isaiah 46:5 "I realized that no one can discover everything God is doing under the sun. Not even the wisest people discover everything, no matter what they claim." ~ Ecclesiastes 8:17 (NLT) According to Scripture, our limited minds are incapable of fully understanding all the visible works of God here on earth; therefore I don't think it's a stretch to conclude that we'll never be able to fully comprehend the qualities, nature and character of our invisible and awesome Creator, the Lord God Almighty. With much fear and reverence for our LORD, I wil

I Have Seen the LORD

Beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ, As I was studying this morning and meditating on God's word, the Holy Spirit was so gracious to take me to the Scriptures where God our Father reveals Himself to us in His deity, His holiness, His sovereignty, righteousness and matchless nature; and how every person who has "seen" God in His majesty responds. They are all different people, but all have the same reaction from being in His holy presence: humility and fear. " Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me , that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD ." ~ Jeremiah 9:23-24 If I may, I'd like to share these Scriptures with you so that our hearts might be united to fear (r

Faith Like Potatoes

Faith Like Potatoes

We just purchased this DVD yesterday and we watched it last night. This movie is based on a true story of Angus and Jill Buchan who founded Shalom Ministries in South Africa amongst the Zulu tribes. The Buchan's are just regular folks - farmers. Watch this movie and be in awe of what our great and mighty God does with us regular folk as we offer Him, our 5 loaves and 2 fish! I HIGHLY recommend this movie. A couple of times, Angus uses the "bl----" word to curse; but this is prior to his conversion. Angus and Jill are still living lives totally abandoned to Christ and live in a way that would make us "westerners" a bit ashamed, BUT in a way that causes us to praise God, repent of our laziness and lack of spiritual fervor. There is also a documentary of Angus and Jill in the Special Features section of the DVD - which by the way is so powerful! When you watch it, you'll feel like you're reading the book of Acts as you see Scripture being lived o

Why Is It "Good" Friday?

Today is GOOD Friday. Why do we call this day "good"? What's so good about it? Let's first take a look at the definition of the word good . good n . ~ moral righteousness, excellent; adj . ~ virtuous, righteous, pure, untainted, unspoiled, reliable, sufficient. Nearly 2,000 years ago, our Lord and Savior was brutally beaten, his beard was ripped off his face, He was spit on, utterly rejected; a murderer was considered better than Him; Jesus was mocked, stripped naked before the world, nailed to a cross of shame between two thieves, died and was buried. To give us a better understanding, let's read Psalm 22, which is where King David, by the power of the Holy Spirit, prophesies what our precious Jesus was feeling on this very day nearly 2,000 years ago: Psalm 22 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no res
