There is much talk within the Christian community about modesty, yet, most of the focus seems to on the exterior appearance of a woman, rather than on what Christ said:

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33, ESV)

And again we find these wise words from the Scriptures, "but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." (1 Peter 3:4, ESV)

The dictionary definition for modesty is: the quality of being modest; freedom from vanity, boastfulness, etc.—regard for decency of behavior, speech, dress, etc.—simplicity; moderation.

In 1 Timothy 2:9 the original Greek word used for "modesty" is, αἰδώς, transliterated "aidós" which means: the idea of downcast eyes; bashfulness, (e.g., towards men). As you can clearly see, this attitude of "modesty" in Scripture is not speaking of mere exterior simplicity, but something greater and more valuable in God's eyes—a woman's internal modesty, that is, a quiet and gentle spirit.

Please don't mistake a "quiet and gentle spirit" to mean anything more than that. Our spirit's, that is, our hearts, are gentled (under God's control) and quieted (because we trust the Lord). Which often means we will boldly proclaim God's truth when necessary, rather than cower in a corner and say nothing at all (Js 4:17) because we foolishly suppose God is deceived and pleased by our fear of man, rather than fear of God. A woman who has a gentle and quiet spirit will not defend herself, but she will lovingly and unashamedly defend her faith in Christ, His inerrant Word, and her Father's call to holiness.

Though the word "modesty" is never used in Scripture as merely an external show, it has become somewhat of an idol and a source of false-piety (pride) for many Christian women who deem themselves holier than other women who don't display the same exterior modesty. This in itself is sinful and a display of boasting in self, rather than boasting only in the one whom it is due; Christ our Lord (Jer 9:23-24).

"We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart."

Sadly, I can attest that I know (and have been one myself) many; too many, Christian women who pride themselves in their exterior show of modesty, yet by what falls out of our mouths (Matt 15:18), we prove that we embody no modesty in our hearts; which in God's sight, is more valuable.

We Christian women gossip and slander one another and call them "prayer requests". We judge, bite and devour our husbands and emasculate their headship over us through: nagging; eye-rolls; and the quiet, yet deeply penetrating dismissive behavior we display towards them in public and private. Some of us even use profanity and manipulate others to do what we want. We're drunkards, we indulge our appetites through overeating, and we even go as far as using Scripture out of context to support our sins (Is 5:20-21).

But, hey, we dress modestly on the outside (no skin tight clothing, no short shorts, no cleavage, etc.) so that must mean we're doing pretty good in God's sight, yes? No. Our immodest hearts towards God and our fellow man are not only an irritation in the Almighty's holy eyes, but we're also setting a poor example to those whom God has given us to influence for their good and not for the things that make us feel good (Rom 15:1-3, Php 2:3-4).

When our internal modesty is the foundation for how we display our external modesty, we gladly strive to dress in a way that most pleases God by protecting what's precious, rather than flaunting them for all the world to see, thereby making what's precious, cheap.

Since it's inital release (mentioned in my last article), Ray Comfort's "Evolution vs. God" has garnered thousands of hateful, demeaning and even violent comments from evolutionists. In spite of such unevolved expressions of opposition, the initial release received such a huge response, Living Waters Publications' server crashed momentarily due to the mass influx of downloads.

At 12:01 a.m. (EST), August 7, 2013, "Evolution vs. God" was released for free on YouTube. Within the first 12 hours, it was viewed more than 11,000 times, with the majority happening during the wee hours of the night. The Evolution vs. God Facebook page has more than 30,000 likes and more than 5,000 people "talking about this". On their Google Plus page, they've acquired more than 1,100 followers and 220 followers on Twitter with numerous commendations from well-known, trusted and well-educated men and women from across the globe.

"Evolution vs. God" has been translated into 11 languages: Albanian, Czech, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Romanian and Slovenian. To access these language options see the photo below.

There are more than 2,200 comments already posted on the YouTube site, as this movie continues to encourage the intelligent and infuriate evolutionists who are hypocritically angry with the teachings of a God they claim does not exist.

Have you noticed that atheists and/or evolutionists never hurl insults or vehemently oppose the Easter Bunny at parades or in shopping centers? Or how about the same for Santa Claus? It's a rather strange and immature way to behave towards those who believe and teach something that opposes your view—if you truly believe the opposing view is preposterous. Why be so offended by something you're sure does not exist...unless of course, you believe it does, yet you allow your foolish pride to set the course for your life rather than wisely humble yourself to the truth.

Interestingly, these barbaric outburst of violence mainly come from evolutionists towards creationists. Evolutionists, that is, those who believe we've all evolved from some mystical primordial ooze from the cosmos that no one created, seem to often express themselves ironically, in a rather devolved manner. Whereas creationists tend to take the higher road and respond to opposition with grace and intercessory prayer, all from the love of God. Yet these evolutionists assert those who've been enlightened with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are the ones who are considered "in the dark" and small-minded. Very peculiar.

I'm not saying that all Christians behave as we ought, but I am saying that most who are truly converted do act and speak as if they are indwelt with the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us with God's Word and empowers us to live above disparaging behavior towards others ( 1 Peter 1:14-16, 2 Peter 1:3-9, John 17:17). We've not yet been perfected, but on that glorious Day when we see Christ in His full glory, we will be made perfect, and will have to answer for every careless word we've spoken (Matt 12:36, Rom 14:12, 2 Cor 5:9-10). So don't worry atheists, we will be held accountable for any lack of God's grace we display.

My prayer for this movie and all who watch, is that God's name will be extolled as it ought and that God will open ears so many can hear, and open eyes so many can perceive the truth of His Gospel, and receive the free gift of His saving grace through repentance and faith in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ the Lord.

God crushed His Son; Christ relinquished His majesty; then gave Himself up for us so that we might be His people—holy and righteous (1 Thess 2:10), full of mercy and grace (James 3:17), and to proclaim His excellencies to the world (Ps 9:1-2, 40:5, 116:12-14; 1 Peter 2:9).

God didn't save us so we could be free to do whatever we want, knowing we're forgiven of all sins: past, present and future. Neither did the Father do this so that we could haphazardly wander around this earth, mooning over all we want and don't have (like the rest of this world).

Just as the honor of being assigned as an ambassador of an earthly country should not be taken lightly, so we also, who are in Christ, should not take our high calling as children of the Most High God lightly.

An earthly ambassador is chosen to live in a foreign land to represent their country, while maintaining every attribute and character of their homeland. An ambassador does not lose or forget who he/she is merely because they live in another country for a time, rather, they honorably and proudly represent their country and their people.

A good and wise ambassador never conforms him/herself to their visiting country or their customs, because they know this is not their home, but a temporary assignment. Instead, they proudly adhere to and keep the customs of their country; which they love.

As God's holy and dearly loved children, we have been recreated, the old has gone and the new has come (2 Cor 5:17). We are no longer of this world, but by God's grace have become citizen's of a new country; Heaven, our true and eternal Home (Philippians 3:20-21).

By washing us with the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, God the Father made us something we could never make ourselves—children of the Most High (1 John 3:1). This high calling has also made us ambassadors of Christ Jesus; representatives and heralds in this world for the King of kings and Lord of lords. Therefore, let us walk in the new life we now possess (Romans 6:4) rather than revel in our old debased thinking and wallow in our old, self-absorbed ways.

I love this exhortation from John MacArthur (Drawing Near), "Biblical holiness (sanctification) is often misunderstood, but it needn't be. When the Holy Spirit delivered you from the domain of darkness and transferred you into the Kingdom of Christ, you became His special possession. That doesn't mean you're sinlessly perfect, but it does mean you're no longer a slave to sin, the Devil and death. That's positional sanctification. Practical sanctification is the decreasing frequency of sin and the increasing frequency of righteousness as you progress in your Christian walk...Sanctification should not be confused with false standards of holiness...attempt[s] to be holy through external means...True holiness begins with a love for Christ Himself. That's what compels you toward greater sanctification...In Him [Christ] you were saved, which is the beginning of sanctification, and in Him you have every resource necessary for progressing in holiness."

Thank God today for His extreme kindness, mercy and love demonstrated to you through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Then resolve to diligently pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the name of the Lord from a pure heart (2 Tim 2:22). And rejoice in your holy calling knowing that without holiness, no one will see God (Heb 12:14).
