About Me

My photo

Hey there, I'm Sunny Shell, a wretch saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Lord. I'm married to the most incredible man on earth, who loves Jesus more than he loves me, and we have two precious adult sons.

The compassionately endures me through my metabolic disease (since 2004) that enables me to be more prayerful and careful about commitments I make and helps me to make the best use of my short time here on earth.

WFW - Submitting to God's Authority: Election

Regardless of who you voted for, as Christians we have the privilege to honor our Lord God, not only with our lips, but with our abandoned hearts, to pray for our new President God raised up - and allowed to take office.

"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him."
~ Daniel 2:20-22

God's word does not return to Him void, but surely accomplishes the purpose in which He sent it. And we trust in the LORD God Almighty; not in personal comforts, fears, anger, disappointment or the opinions of men.

But in all things, as children of the Most High God, we are confident, no matter our circumstances, for our lives are not held by the decisions of mere men, but only by the good and sovereign will of the Lord of Hosts.

"Arise, O LORD! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before You!
Put them in fear, O LORD!
Let the nations know that they are but men!"
~ Psalm 9:19-20
(emphasis added)

Therefore, we ought to restrain ourselves from slander or any other form of malice regarding our new President, Barak Obama. And we must commit to pray for him. Pray for the salvation and protection of him and his entire family. Pray for God to give him wisdom to lead this great nation. And pray that every believer in Christ, take more seriously and appreciate more deeply the freedoms we have to worship our King Jesus.

Remember dear brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus, why we are here. We are visitors, sojourners; not permanent citizens of this world. We are not here to become so passionate about all that is temporary. But instead, we are to strive for that which is eternal - salvation in Christ Jesus; and sharing our hope in Him with the world.

With this in mind, will you join me in prayer for our new President and not against him?

  5. Great post, sister! I'm of the belief that we should subject to the authority of our governmental authority as long as that doesn't conflict with God's will and if it does... well, then no contest! I believe that God is working His purpose out and we just have to have faith in that come what may!

I too know that no matter what we need to stand behind the one that God has allowed to be elected! No matter what I will have the future president in my prayers. Prayers can turn anything around!

  18. Sunny,

God is being very clear in His message to us don't you think? It seems that everyone who I have read today has the same message (and it was being very heavily poured out on me last night during my prayer time from our Lord) that NOW IS THE TIME to be JESUS to our nation. Our reaction to this election is a great opportunity to show the love of Christ to the world and to our fellow Americans. Wouldn't it be Awesome if because of the outpouring of prayer for Barack Obama that God got ahold of him like Saul of Tarsus? Wouldn't that just put another nail in the enemy's coffin? I think it would be AWESOME!! I'm heavily burdened for Barack and his family that they be protected from those who would wish them harm, that their eyes be opened to the deceit of the enemy, and that they be given the wisdom of the one true God to govern this nation back to a Christian foundation. I used to be a skeptic, but then I met Jesus! Now I'm a believer of miracles, restoration, and the impossible. I'm hoping in my Savior regardless of the state of this nation!! My nation is not of this world!

    God bless you sister.

  21. ahhhh...Sunny girl...you did it again...stirred the hearts of the readers! What a perfect post for today! It is time to pray and what's so sad is that for so many that is just the hardest part... We are just visitors to this planet, and the ONLY reason we are here is to praise HIM who created us...when you think about it like that, it puts SO much in this world into perspective...huh?

    WONDERFUL!
    loved it!
    hugs,

  23. AMEN!

I know there are so many broken hearted, dear ones today that are feeling the "let down" of our election. But I am lifted up by the posts I have been reading today... that us Christian women are going to pray for our President Elect, his family, our leaders and our country. Amen... that is what we are to do!

I love this post and I will share it with my family and friends!

  24. Hello Heather,

I'm so sorry that I've not been able to visit your blog lately sweetie. I've not been feeling very well, and as all the sisters here strive to do; I have to keep my time with God and family priority before blogging.

But when I do blog, to be honest, I'm just trying my very best to keep up with all the sisters in the Bible Study first before I visit anyone else...as it is right in the eyes of God. I hope you understand. :-)

It's nothing personal. You're a sweet sister in Christ and I love you....I just am not able to visit as many sisters as I'd like....trust me, if I God enabled me to, I'd visit ALL of you!!! :-)

    Love you dear sister,
    Sunny

I felt very saddened that, ‘in my opinion’ the wrong person was elected.
It really played heavy on my mind and in my heart.
I really needed to hear this today. Thankyou. Your Beautiful words have encouraged me greatly.
I join you in prayer for your new President.
