One of the things that grieve my heart the most is how modern day Christian churches view and practice our Lord’s holy communion – breaking of the bread and drinking of the wine. Most churches have long forgotten the reverence and the purpose in which communion was established and why we still practice it. Communion is also known as the Lord’s Supper. There is a reason for that. It was referred to as the Lord’s Supper because that’s who this meal belongs to, that’s who established it, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus did not teach His disciples to take of the bread and drink of the wine as a mere religious practice to be performed in order for exterior holiness to be displayed or achieved (which is an oxymoron). No, instead it is written that communion was established by Christ for His disciples to practice for the purpose and in the manner noted in the passage below: “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, ea...

One day as I was studying the words of my Father God (my all time FAVORITE thing to do...well, I suppose it’s tied with worshiping Him, bringing Him honor, glory, praise, adoring Him...okay, you get the picture), I noticed something. I noticed that never at any point does God ever refer to us as His “adult children” or “grown children”. You know, like we do. Whenever you ask someone if they have kids and how many, they’ll say something like this: “Oh, I have 2 kids at home and 1 adult child.”, or “Yes, we have kids, but they’re all grown now.” What do people really mean when they answer this way? Why don’t they just say they have 3 kids, 4, 12 or whatever? Why do we differentiate between how many we have living at home and how many are “adult children” or “grown children”? We do this because this is our way of telling other people that while we may have an “x” number of children, some of them or all of them are no longer living with us, under our care, our protection, and o...

Our precious son tried out for every solo available. We’re so proud of him! But to make this disappointment sting, he was taunted by another student who did get a solo. I just heard of the Cyclone Nargis that hit Myanmar (Burma) this past Saturday, May 3, 2008. The death toll is up to 22,000 with over 41,000 people still missing. This impoverished country is run by the military who has not allowed any outside aid to help their people. They have about 5 days of water and rice. Most of their rice fields were destroyed as well as 95% of the all buildings and housing. Many countries including the U.S. have offered aid and are prepared to come in and help. Unfortunately, their visas have not yet been approved and the people of Myanmar are suffering because of it. I thank God for our brothers and sisters from Gospel for Asia who are already in Myanmar and have been for the past 20 years. One of Gospel for Asia's Bible Colleges are being used for temporary shelter and many people are coming to them for food, shelter and other aid. PRAISE GOD!!! Last year Michael's teacher gave his class a writing assignment. His teacher instructed each student to write a short story, poem, or prose on: What Makes a Difference? Below is the prose Michael wrote when he was only 14 years old and in the 8th. grade. Isn't it wonderful what God does with children who love Him? May your day be blessed, as you remember Who it is that makes all the difference...our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Christ, we have no life, no hope, no salvation - nothing good. What makes a difference? To help someone in need; To be friendly to someone who is unfriendly and love someone who seems unlovable; To share with a greedy person and endure the ridicule from others; To be thankful for an unpopular gift; To look at the positive side in others; To have eternal perspective, in good or bad times, a sharing heart or a grateful soul for His Gift; to realize how much you've been given because of Love; Jesus Christ makes a difference!

I once heard a Senior Pastor preach a sermon in which he referred to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit as “Big Daddy, Junior and the Spook.” YIKES! How does a Senior Pastor of a church in the “Bible Belt” come to view the Lord God Almighty in such a denigrating way? By supporting and allowing heretical teachers/preachers to bring their conferences to their churches, sending their pastors to conferences sponsored by heretical teachers/preachers as well as quoting them or reading any of their materials. While well meaning pastors may not agree with everything heretical preachers espouse, many pastors are sadly deceived into believing that they are discerning enough to be able to use only the “good” portions and sift out the bad.
