WFW - Wisdom from God

Welcome to Word-Filled Wednesdays! Amydeanne hosts this at 160 Acre Woods . Please visit her site to see others who've shared a Word from the Lord today to encourage you, bless you and exhort you to seek hard after our Heavenly Father! When I think I'm so smart and so spiritual, I know that's when I need to stop in my tracks and consider James 3:17-18. Wisdom from God is not the kind that tells another person "Sit down, shut up and listen to me because I'm more spiritually mature than you." According to James 3:14-15 although this kind of "wisdom" is spiritual, it's not from God, it's from the devil. YIKES! James 3:17-18 helps me to remember that my love needs to be genuine - that is, holding the other person's interest genuinely above my own before I ever counsel anyone. Not according to what I feel they need, but through prayer and by the power of the Holy Spirit, according to what God says they need. May you be blessed today as you pr...

Visions without Fearing God - Scary!

Today, "At the Well", we're discussing Having a Family Vision . Do you have a vision for your family? If so, share it with us. If not, what do you think it would be? Our family shares the same belief in the Scripture Natalie used on her blog: "Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint [or the people are discouraged]," ~ Proverbs 29:18 (ESV) It is true, without a specific goal, a specific plan, a specific vision, we all tend to "cast off restraint" and give into our sin natures or old sin patterns. And the natural affect of that is discouragement, as we find that we are so disappointed with ourselves for allowing this to happen one more time. It's the same old story. We begin with the best intentions, with a God-honoring goal in mind, but because we're not careful to put our attentions to how we reach our goal, and not just that we reach our goal, we find that disaster and sometimes pain come from our lack of strategic p...

Word-Filled Wednesdays

What a wonderful Word for today! May you be blessed as you rest in God's Word and find restoration for your soul!

Deuteronomy 5:24

"And you said, 'Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire. This day we have seen God speak with man and man still live.' " "He whose life is one even and smooth path, will see but little of the glory of the Lord, for he has few occasions of self-emptying, and hence, but little fitness for being filled with the revelation of God. They who navigate little streams and shallow creeks, know but little of the God of tempests; but they who 'do business in great waters', these see His 'wonders in the deep'. Among the huge Atlantic-waves of bereavement, poverty, temptation, and reproach, we learn the power of Jehovah, because we feel the littleness of man. Thank God, then, if you have been led by a rough road: it is this which has given you your experience of God's greatness and loving-kindness. Your troubles have enriched you with a wealth of knowledge to be gained by no oth...

Help Save My Friend's Life!

Hello everyone: I need your help. About 6 years ago, my dear friend and sister in Christ, Laurie (we've been friends for 20 years) was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma Stage III. She's needing a bone marrow transplant to save her life. Originally, they thought they could use her own stem cell since she was not a match with any family members and seems with no one else so far who are already registered with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). She got some really bad news today. Her cancer is not only growing, but she also has another disease called Poluycythemia Rubra Vera (also known as PV. PV compromises her bone marrow and now she can not go through with the stem cell transplant. She is the only known case with both Follicular Lymphoma Stage III and PV so her oncologist is trying to figure out what to do. If PV is not taken care of quickly, she will die and leave behind a husband and three young boys. She will go in next week to find out if her Follicular Lymphoma S...

Freedom to Love

“For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the bothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” ~ 1 John 3:11-18 (emphasis added) “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who l...

No Greater Joy

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” ~ 3 John 1:4 God is constantly so gracious to us! How often I feel as if I will simply burst! This flesh is too weak to contain the joy, the immense pleasure and elation bubbling inside of me due to the incredible honor to live in the presence of my Creator! I am certain that’s why He will give us new bodies in Heaven, for now we only see in part, but then we will see Him as He Is, in His full glory; and I am confident, this frail physical form, will not be able to survive in the fullness of my Savior, Jesus Christ. It is up to my darling husband and two teenage boys to care for me and the household, as I recover from my surgery. I have been home for less than a week, and have already witnessed the miracle of God’s handiwork in the hearts of my family I’ve never had the privilege of knowing before now. And I am so grateful to God for choosing to reveal to me the secret things He has been doing in the hearts...
