WFW - Faith of A Child

This is a picture of our youngest son, joyfully looking forward to his first Christmas! He was eight months old when this picture was taken. Time has flown, and he will be fourteen years old, in just five more months. We've been witnessing to our sons and teaching them the ways of God, pretty much since they were conceived. We'd pray for them, read Scripture to them and tell them how much God loves them. I don't believe it's ever too early to teach our children about God, His saving grace and His merciful love, fully demonstrated in Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus said in Matthew 18:2-4 "And calling to Him a child, He put him in the midst of them and said, 'Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.' " So often we all want to feel like we matter, like we have purpose and like we're special. Althou...

That Thing Called Sin - From the Heart of a Teen

It continues to amaze me at how our awesome God works in our children's hearts....especially teenagers! :-) The Bible says as the world gets older and the longer we're all here, the more sinful the world will become. I don't think there is anyone, believers or non-believers that wouldn't agree with that statement. We can all clearly see how wickedness has increased, in the form of incessant lying, lack of personal responsibility or repentance, self-absorption, self-glorification, sexual immorality, abortion, and so much more than I think I can list. In the midst of all this, as much as we'd LOVE to homeschool our boys or send them to a private Christian school, we cannot, since God has clearly told us to send our boys to public school. As parents, this is very difficult as I'm sure we all want our children to be in a warm, loving and Christ-exalting environment. But God is God and we are not and we fully trust His direction in our lives, regardless of what w...

To Live A Day....a personal journey

I'm praying about some different things I have on my heart and thoughts that have popped into my head to do with this blog. I want so much to encourage all of you as you hunger and thirst after the only One who can truly satisfy you - the Lord Jesus Christ. But before I do anything, I am in much prayer about this and would appreciate your prayers as well. I want everything I have and everything I do to represent Christ and Christ alone. I want nothing more than for the brilliance of His beauty to emanate through all He has given me. And I want to honor the "mission" He's given me for my life; which is the same mission for this blog. So while I'm in this time of prayer, I thought it would be good to share a couple of personal journal entries with you, as this is the direction I am sensing the Lord leading me with regards to this blog. I know He wants me to get more personal, but what I don't know yet is how that will look and how it will all play out. ...

While You Were Sleeping - A Call to Repentance

This is a music video of Casting Crowns' song, While You Were Sleeping . It is only five minutes long. Please take the time to listen, with an open heart and open hands to receive all that God chooses to give you. "For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut . Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, ...

WFW - Submitting to God's Authority: Election

Regardless of who you voted for, as Christians we have the privilege to honor our Lord God, not only with our lips, but with our abandoned hearts, to pray for our new President God raised up - and allowed to take office. "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him ." ~ Daniel 2:20-22 God's word does not return to Him void, but surely accomplishes the purpose in which He sent it. And we trust in the LORD God Almighty; not in personal comforts, fears, anger, disappointment or the opinions of men. But in all things, as children of the Most High God, we are confident , no matter our circumstances, for our lives are not held by the decisions of mere men, but only by the good and sovereign will o...

Absentee Voters and Absentee Visitors

Hello my beautiful sister in the Lord Jesus Christ! I wanted to remind everyone to vote your faith today. Vote based on your love and devotion for Christ, our Savior and not based on fear, personal comforts or the opinions of man - from the world, or even from well-meaning brothers and sisters in Christ. Search God's word, and seek His counsel as you would do with anything else in your life. Then rest in peace, trusting that God will never forsake His children. Please do not neglect your Christian duty to vote. It's better to be an absentee voter than to not vote at all. And please remember to keep everyone in your prayers today....you are all in mine! :-) Now about absentee visitors. Unfortunately, I am not able to visit with you today, as I am compelled to live what I teach. :-) Therefore, I thought it would be good to refer you to some articles that I've already written in order to encourage you through various trials you may be enduring at the moment. So today,...

Simplicity of The Gospel

As I was having my quiet time today, God reminded me of the simplicity of His message of salvation and how He wants His children to live. First, I will cover the simplicity of the Gospel. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” ~ John 3:16-17 Do you know why Jesus, the Son of God, did not come into the world to condemn it? Let’s read on to the next few verses and see what God says. “Whoever believes in Him [Jesus Christ] is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” ~ John 3:18 According to God’s word, it is because we are condemned already. Why are we condemned already? “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the re...

Here Am I LORD, Send Me!

"Welcome Back Kotter" was a hit TV Show which aired in the 1970's. I didn't watch it too much because of some of the male vulgarities shared on the show, but I did agree with the main theme of the show. Here’s a brief synopsis of the show: High School teacher returns to his alma mater in order to help some students in a remedial class that had been written off by society, they're parents, the other teachers and even the principal. These students were considered to be born losers and destined to stay that way. But Gabe Kotter (the teacher) who graduated from the same high school, after having attended the same remedial class, had a passion to teach these kids to live above the lowly expectations the world had applied to them. Mr. Kotter, not only taught these students in class, but he also invested in their lives outside of class and truly cared about their welfare. One of Mr. Kotter’s students, Arnold Horshack was well known for always raising his hand and say...
